    <description>sounds as though you may have lost your kernel file, /hp-ux, and this implies this is  an old, unsupported release of HP-UX.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Yopu might like to try doing:&lt;BR /&gt;hpux ls * &lt;BR /&gt;and see if this gives you a listing of files at the / mount point.&lt;BR /&gt;you could also try to boot from the pre-10.x backup kernel:&lt;BR /&gt;hpux /SYSBCKUP&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Do you know whsat version of HP-UX you have on hte system?</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;I have problem with HP-UX A.37.00 B 9000/835 installed on hp server 8000, while booting the system showing the following mesg.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Boot&lt;BR /&gt;:dsc2(4.0.0;oxb)/hp-ux&lt;BR /&gt;open failure: not a directory (ENOTDIR) (error= =20)&lt;BR /&gt;ISL&amp;gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;then system will not boot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;pls give the solutions&lt;BR /&gt;tanks&lt;BR /&gt;saifu&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>It seems ISL is not able to read the kernel u may try booting from an alternate kernel&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am not sure what is the previous kernel name in 9.X&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;in 10.X it is vmunix.prev&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regds,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Kaps</description>

      <description>I think either the disk u are trying to boot is not your boot disk or It's boot area (LIF) got corrupted.&lt;BR /&gt;1. Confirm which is your boot device first &lt;BR /&gt;you can give "search" command at PDC prompt to see the potential boot devices and select the correct one.&lt;BR /&gt;2. If LIF is corrupted then go thr'&lt;BR /&gt;   man mkboot&lt;BR /&gt;   ( You need to install LIF area again )&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>There was no HP-UX version of what you are listing.&lt;BR /&gt;I suspect you have either version 3.x or 7.x of HP-UX.&lt;BR /&gt;Whichever, it is VERY old.&lt;BR /&gt;You may be in a state where you will need to re-install, and for this you will need the OS media, manuals, etc. and a good full backup.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
