To find out if you have ignite installed simply type ignite on the command line.

Mark

Hi Gurus,

I'm hv a big big problem right now. My DLT tape drive is spoilt and I've no spare drive at the moment. Waiting for a new DLT tape drive will take ages as we need to follow some procedures in calling up quotes. My question is this; is there a way to do backup to disk first and copy to the media at a later time.

Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks a million

Mok

You could do an ignite backup to disc - over a network if this is not your ignite server.

Ignite usually only backs up operating system, but you can specify what you want backed up.

Mark Syder (like the drink but spelt different)

Veritas Netbackup could do backups over the network. make_net_recovery is your ignite option over the network. Anothre simple thing you could do if you have enough disk is make a mirror copy of your disks. Tar and cpio are also options too. I think there is a way to stream one of those two across the network on an r command.
