Allan,

1. For going into ISL you have to inetrrupt the boot process during bootup by pressing simply a <SPACEBAR> when the message " Press any key to halt boot process" appears.

2. Since you are at GSP mode right now type "ma" to come to main menu then type "CO" to come to console. See where you are if the system is already booted UP then give shutdown command.
#shutdown -r -y 0
Wait patiently to see System rebooting and monitor the console to see the above said message. Press SPACEBAR as soon as the message appears. It will only give you 10 sec.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
</SPACEBAR>

Hi Allan,

If you are trying to "install" HP-UX, then you don't try for ISL.

IN the GSP mode, go to console and stop at BCH. At BCH, boot from the CD-ROM or the network ignite server based on the type of installation. To find out the paths, you can do a "Search IPL" for the bootable devices or "Search" for all the disks.

-Sri

It sounds like you may by pressing <CTRL>+b on the console and thus going into GSP.

During boot wait for the message:

Press any key to stop the boot process (or something like that). Just hit the spacebar.

Once here you will use the "SEArch" command and then boot off the CD/DVD:

example: if SEArch shows your CD as P2 you just do a 'boot P2'.

What model server is this?

David</CTRL>

Hi,

1. if you access the GSP you can access the console using the co command.

2. if you are out of the menu you can specify the bootpath from ipl:
setboot ( if i am correct, config menu will give you the commands)
ore
sea ipl
bo P<NUMBER>

HTH,

Gideon</NUMBER>

If you are still having trouble, it would be best to describe your system more. What system is it? Itanium systems boot differently from pa-risc systems. What type of console are you using via which connection?
