Support Tool Manager patch

Hi,

I want to patch s700_800 11.11 Support Tool Manager, but I'm not sure which version I need to patch. That is a part of the log I got from PP. I was looking at PHSS_29344 but is there more recent one?

Hi,

As per the patch tool, the patch "PHSS_30456" is the latest 11.11 patch for Support Tool Manager. This is a Dec 2003 release.

There's a little bit of confusion in the replies, which I hope I can help clear up.

A new revision of the OnlineDiags for each version of HPUX is released every six months (previously every 3 months). The releases for 11.11 and 11.23 alternate, so each quarter there's a new OnlineDiags released, but not necessarily for the version of HP-UX you want. The revisions can be identified by the STM Version (e.g. A.43.00), the release date (HWE0312), or the SW Depot id (B.11.11.13.14). The table at http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm#table shows all these. (You'll see that until recently there was a new revision for each HPUX version each quarter.) New revisions are needed to support new hardware, as well as consolidate bug fixes.

If critical or serious defects are found in a revision of OnlineDiags, a patch will be released. That patch is specific to a revision of OnlineDiags. You'll only be able to install it on that revision. As OnlineDiags patches are usually released for the current and previous revision, and patches for older revisions will still be available, there will be many 'latest' OnlineDiags patches, one for each revision.

In your particular case, PHSS_30456 is the latest patch for HWE0312, a.k.a B.11.11.13.14. PHSS_29344 was the latest patch for an earlier revision, HWE0306, A.41.00, B.11.11.11.xx.

One thing I'm not sure of is if there's a simple way to find the latest patch for a particular revision of OnlineDiags without just checking the version numbers in the patch catalog.
