Hi Igor,

I'm not sure for the Apollo, but usually the Service/Normal switch or key allows your system to react to <CTRL-B> when in 'service' position.

Dan
</CTRL-B>

Hello all,

I have this subtle problem, when there's no getty running on a machine, yet I see no way to boot it into the single-user mode.
The box is an ancient Apollo series 400 workstation, the operating environment is HP-UX 9.10, fully patched.
Browsing through the users's manual, I've found how to choose a different kernel, how to choose between Domain and HP-UX, but what I really need is to have the ability to do something that we all do on s700/800 - to get into ISL and issue "hpux -is"...

How can I obtain this functionality?
Does that tiny switch (service/normal) on the rear panel have to do anything with it?

Any help will be appreciated!
TIA,

The apollo, rather HP workstations do not have a service switch,so ^B won't work.I go with the second reply.Press ESC key during bootup and at the BOOT ADMIN> prompt type "boot pri isl"

Good luck
