Error occuting while starting WebSphere Server

After doing the installation when I am trying to start the server it is giving error

" Server launched but failed initialization. Server log files should contain failure information."

I looked into the log file and found that
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
at com.ibm.ws.wccm.services.pme.metadata.impl.PMEServerConfigLocator.initialize(PMEServerConfigLocator.java:45)
at com.ibm.ws.runtime.WsServer.start(WsServer.java:75)
at com.ibm.ws.runtime.WsServer.main(WsServer.java:225)
at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Native Method)
at com.ibm.ws.bootstrap.WSLauncher.main(WSLauncher.java:94)

Please Help..

Hi Jay,

have you installed Java with all recommended patches?

Hi Ett,

I have installed GOLDBASE11i and GOLDAPPS11i of June2003.I checked the java version and it is 1.3 now I am in progress to upgrade it with Java 1.4 with rte .

Will it Work??

You have to check your product specs. If its only certified with java 1.2, then NO, it won't work.

The good news is java coexists. You can have multiple versions running and installed at the same time.

Still I am getting the same error.It is compatible with java 1.4 .Now I am getting error " java.lang.Illegalstateexception"
