Looks like the auto file string failed during the 'mkboot' to the disk. Have a look at the 'mkboot' 'hpux' and 'boot' man pages for a detailed explanation as to what is suppose to happen.
I imaged a 11.11 C3000 system that has been in the cabinet for a while and it imaged successfully. Problem is when its booting - it can't find the disk.

Says the following:

disk(10/0/15/1.6.0.0.0.0.0;0)/stand/vmunix
disk(10/0/15/1.6.0.0.0.0.0;0)/stand/vmunix: cannot open, or not executable
Exec failed: No such file or directory

Now the path does look funny... shouldn't it be 1.6.0 and not all those 0s?

How do I fix this?

Angie

I guess the disk has a usable ISL in its LIF volume but cannot find the vmunix kernel to load.

1) Interrupt the autoboot if you have set it to autoboot
2) enter "boot"
3) Interact with ISL Y or N > Y
4) ISL > hpux ll

the above command will list the contents of /stand file system

5) look if you have vmunix*.

6) if you find anything that starts with vmunix and looks like a kernel, then use "hpux vmunix.something" to boot and take it from there

How many disks are on the system? As the primary boot may be looking at the wrong disk. (I am not familiar with this model)
How did you install the system, ignite tape or CD's?

There is just this 1 18-gig disk drive on this system. Installed it from an ignite installation that was of the exact same model of system (have ignited many times before - no real glitches).

Angie

The disk has a bootable lif volume but apparently /stand file system got messed up. It would probably take you less time to reimage the server than trying to rebuild /stand using recovery CD or something :-)

Wanted to get back to those of you that responded to me on this issue.

Found out that the C3000 has something wrong with it via the hardware. I swapped out drives... reseated the memory, different ignite tapes and it started rebooting in the middle of ignite sessions and did other flaky things.

So thanks for all the input and I have assigned at least some points just for taking the time.

Thank you all so much! I love this group!

Angie
