      <description>I disagree that you should set dbc_max_pct to default value for a system with 4GB of ram.  Default (at one time, at least) is 50%.  This will give you 2GB maximum buffer cache which can cause serious performance degradation due not only to th edecrease in available RAM for process use but also because of the time it will take the sync command to traverse such a large buffer structure.</description>
