    <description>I got this working by installing the X-server&lt;BR /&gt;cumulative patch for HPUX10.20. PHSS_22603.&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks to all those who tried to helped!</description>

      <title>CDE Login Does Not Start</title>

      <description>I have just installed HP-UX 10.20 but my CDE Login does not start properly.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The message is:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The X-server can not be started on display &lt;HOSTNAME&gt;:0...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Suspending Desktop login ....&lt;BR /&gt;Press [Enter] for a login prompt ...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Below are some more info:&lt;BR /&gt;/var/dt/Xerrors&lt;BR /&gt;XIO:fatal IO error 232 (connection reset by peer) on X server &lt;HOSTNAME&gt; after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining&lt;BR /&gt;X collector no DLD broker bidding on screen entries in X0screens&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Running dr_dt, I have 3 warnings&lt;BR /&gt;- permissions on the root directory is wrong&lt;BR /&gt;- no .dt directory in the root directory&lt;BR /&gt;- permissions/ownership of /etc/hosts file is wrong&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Fixed all of the above, but I still get nothing.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any help/info is appreciated&lt;/HOSTNAME&gt;&lt;/HOSTNAME&gt;</description>

      <description>I always write the following&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;=== Check the name resolution this could be a corrupted /etc/hosts.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I confirm it with the "host" command. Check for duplicate entries in /etc/hosts file&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Kaps</description>

      <description>Is this a server S800 or workstation S700? Check by command: # model&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Kindly note that if the workstation doesn't have network, CDE may not come up sometimes.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Besides, check that /etc/hosts doesn't have duplicate entry.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And what are the patch levels like?</description>

      <description>I checked the /etc/hosts file and it is OK. I am able to telnet from and to my workstation. Anyway, thanks for your reply.&lt;BR /&gt;Let me know if you think of something else.</description>

      <description>The error always caused by a file mismatch among the X server filesets. &lt;BR /&gt;On a 10.20 OS, just try install the following patches (and dependencies.)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;PHSS_20860  &lt;BR /&gt;PHSS_21956&lt;BR /&gt;PHSS_21461&lt;BR /&gt;PHSS_17225&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Patch installation may need a reboot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;good luck!&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
