Is the 'O' in a codeword the numeric zero or the alpha character?

It could be either....I compare the letter to the other characters on the codeword documents when I get it and determine if it's a letter O or a zero.

Difficult to tell you from here, I don't see that far ;-)

In fact, it could be both as codewords could consist of any character in the range [0-9A-Z]

"Good" codewords avoid the uppercase letters 'I' and 'O' and the lowercase 'L'.

If you see any of these letters in a codeword, it's not a "good" one. If not i would give the zero a try.
