      <description>Hi All,&lt;BR /&gt;       We have 2 HPUX 11.11 machines and whenever I do sar -v 1 5 on one machine the output is &lt;BR /&gt;text-sz ov proc-sz ov inod-sz ov file-sz  ov&lt;BR /&gt;N/A   N/A 137/820   0 714/1088  0  688/1899  0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and on the another machine it is &lt;BR /&gt;                                               text-sz ov proc-sz ov inod-sz ov file-sz ov&lt;BR /&gt;N/A    N/A 129/820 0  0/1088  0  593/1899  0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As you can see both the machines have inod-sz as 1088 and on 1 machine the current inode usage is 700+ while on the another it stays 0.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My Question is which value is correct and is there any way I can have identical results ( or very less difference ) between the two.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks,&lt;BR /&gt;Girish&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>inod-sz is based on the Kernel parameter ninode.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There is nothing to worry about the difference in the output. It depends on the number of inodes that are currently open in the machine.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;in machine1, there seems to be lot of activity going on than machine2.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can simply ignore the difference.</description>

      <description>&lt;BR /&gt; Those sar statistics relate to the Inode cache for HFS type file systems.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; If all file systems on one of your machines&lt;BR /&gt;were of type VxFS then that would explain&lt;BR /&gt;why its inode usage stays at zero.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; So, despite the obvious difference,  both values are "correct".&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>The "problem" is fixed with PHKL_23241 (superseded by PHKL_30833):&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;( SR:8606179211 CR:JAGad48435 )&lt;BR /&gt;sar -v and glance show ninode usage (count of active inodes on the system) as 0.&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;Best regards...&lt;BR /&gt;Dietmar.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
