extending logical volume

I tried extending my logical volume drive. and i got these error message.
"$lvextend -l 1252 /dev/tr/vl4 /dev/dsk/c1t2d9"
Need more PVs for "4" Stripes. Only have "1" PVs.
Failure possibly caused by strict allocation policy

what can i do about it.

Your LV is stripped onto four disks.(pvs)
Check the allocation policy -- lvdisplay /dev/vgxx/lvolx

You will have to add foure more PVs to vg group, before extending the lvol.

Else, change the allocation policy and try
Also you should have enough free space in vg for this.

Find out how lv's are being distributed for pv's in this VG.
Find out how many logical volumes are striped.
Note down the one's which are not (here that is the case) striped.
Use pvmove command to move some Pe's of non-striped lv's to diffrent disks and create equal space available on all Pv's and retry the command.

If you do not need striping , you can do it by lvchange command.
