I would package the patches together and then present to 'swinstall' as a registered depot. You can do this by downloading them together or you could manipulate the create_depot file that comes with the archive. The next thing would to (if you wished to) is create the depot from the create_depot script and run it again. When there are dependencies it is easier to have the whole lot together.

I have found that you need patch PHCO_29897 also with PHKL_29896 patch, maybe you do not include that patch.
Scenario
1.I tried installing patch PHKL_23337
2. I tried installing PHKL_29896 patch, but got an error message, stating this error.
======= 07/15/04 16:09:01 EDT BEGIN swinstall SESSION
(non-interactive) (jobid=pearljam-0014)

* Session started for user "root@pearljam".

* Beginning Selection
* Target connection succeeded for "pearljam:/".
NOTE: The patch match operation failed to find patches for target
software on "pearljam" which passed the filter.
NOTE: Cannot continue the "swinstall" task.
3. I tried installing the last patch, PHCO_29897 and got the same error message.

would you know why?

thanks

Allan,
Try to download the last two patches together in a gzip or tar file from the HP site. and there you will get an utility shell script for making a patch depot. Follow the instructions given in the readme file. I am attaching the readme file here.
Regards,
Borislav

Use swinstall -x mount_all_filesystems=false
to interact with the installation.

The most current error is that you don't have all the necessary filesets installed: to install PHKL_29896 you must have installed first PHCO_29897 and PHKL_23337!
