I have installed a A6795A PCI Tachyon XL2 Adapter on an A-Class server model A500-5X (rp2450) running HP-UX 11i. Have installed 43.50 PDC Firmware Patch but the system just does not see the device. The device appears to be active as the light are on, on the card. Can anyone help me out please.

First, does the card appear in the ioscan output even if it states 'unknown'?

Second, what slot do you have the card in and what other cards do you have in the other slots?

If it is 'unknown' you will still need to install the FC-MASS-Storage filesets and the latest driver. By default if a HBA card has not been installed before, the drivers need to be loaded later.

Seeing it is actually listed and unknown/unclaimed, you may still need to install the FCMassStorage filesets from your CORE-OS CD. This will place the correct drivers into the kernel.
e.g.
# swlist -l product | grep FC
FC-TACHYON-TL B.11.23.01 PCI FibreChannel;Supptd HW=A6795A,A5158A
FCMassStorage B.11.23 Fibre Channel Mass Storage

After install, you will still need the latest driver which can be found here:
http://software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=A6795A
