DDS backup tapes

I'm looking to buy some new DDS tapes and was wondering if I buy DDS 4 tapes would they be compatable with a DDS 2 tape drive?

Absolutely NOT! DDS4 tapes will work in DDS4 drives ONLY! The tapes are NOT backward compatible.

Tapes ARE, however, forward compatible. In other words, DDS2 TAPES can work in DDS2, DDS3 and DDS4 DRIVES.
