I have an rp7410 running a September release of 11.11 with (HP-supplied) CIFSclient A.01.08 installed and running.

I have an rp2470 with December 2003 11.11 installed, with (HP-supplied) CIFSclient A.01.09 installed and running.

Both servers access the same mount from a W2K server.

However, I have one file, an Oracle dump, which report different file sizes on either server - and tts quite a substantial difference.

On the older (rp7410);

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root sys 3108355072 Sep 21 10:50 fullPROD.dmp

(and a few other files)
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root sys 136277 Sep 21 10:49 fullPROD.log
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root sys 136277 Sep 16 15:57 fullPROD.log.orig

From the more recent rp2470

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root sys 7403322368 Sep 21 10:50 fullPROD.dmp

(and the other two files listed previously)

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root sys 136277 Sep 21 10:49 fullPROD.log
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root sys 136277 Sep 16 15:57 fullPROD.log.orig

So from the older box the dump file reports just under 3GB size and the newer server 7GB, but only for that particular file.

Anyone any clues. Is this a "feature" of the 08 release?

Thanks in anticipation

B.
Hi Brendan,

What is the correct file size? (sub-question, is A.01.09 reporting it correctly, or A.01.08, or neither)

If A.01.09 is correct, is there a reason that you do not update to the newer version? My guess is that A.01.08 simply did not report large files correctly (if it is the A.01.08 size that is in error).

I can look for the JAG (defect report) if it is important that you have it.

Eric Roseme

Brendan,

The CIFS Client had no fixes between A.01.08 and A.01.09 that could affect the displayed file size. It may be something else on the system.

Eric Roseme

Its always best to have the same version of CIF S installed on all systems.

Client:
http://software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8724AA

Server:
http://software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8725AA

Client install requires a boot.

SEP
