I deleted the /var/yp/domainname directory from the slave and did a ypmake and also restarted the services on both master and slave and now the error is NIS domain not bound Reason: can't bind to a server that serves NIS domain. Hope it is not serious

Thanks

Brian

Team:

I have a NIS master and a Slave. On master if i do ypcat ypservers it shows both the master and slave. But on slave ypcat ypservers returns nothing. I removed some of the other slaves that were attached to the master by makedbm -u /var/yp/ypservers, but i accidentely ran the makedbm command on the slave. would that be the culprit? if so what is the solution?

Thanks

Brian

Hi Brian,

check at the slave if you have in /var/yp a directory with the name of your domain, if yes delete it.
Then do a ypmake from the master.

Volkmar
