Hi,

Are you trying to install the software using swintall from the command line or from the GUI? If you are trying the command line, can you post the command you are attempting? What software are you trying to install? Just curious.

JP
Hi all,
I get the following error when trying to install software. I have registered the depot already and still it does not work.

"ERROR: The source you have chosen is a tape device which must be local to the single selected target. Since the hostname of the tape device "source" does not match the hostname of the single selected target "destination", this source is not allowed."

the source is a local directory on the system. It gives me the same error when trying to remote isntall it from a system where the software is registered as a depot as well

Can't do that with a remote tape drive.

The base OS doesn't let you use a tape drive on hostb from hosta

Either move the tape or write the depot from tape to disk and register the depot on disk.

SEP

Hi Jacob,

Check and see if you have multiple entries for the host in the /etc/hosts file or if there is any problem with the host / ip resolutions on this host.

Hope this helps.

Regds
Hi Jacob,

See if you have the file 'swlock' under the catalog sub directory under the depot directory. If not, then touch one and see if it works.

-Sri

I just installed it on one of my 11i boxes. I did it this way from the command line:

swinstall -s /home/users/jpoff/T1471AA_A.03.81.002_HP-UX_B.11.11_32+64.depot \*

I just copied the depot file to my home directory and swinstall'd it from there as root.

Is the directory where the depot file is located registered as a depot?

JP
