Time zone changes

Hi all,

I have changed the time zone on two L3000 servers.
I did the change under /etc/TIMEZONE from EET-2DST to EET-2EETDST (I am located in Greece).
My question, is a server reboot mandatory ?
It's impossible for me to restart the servers is there a deamon that can be restarted ?
How can I take these settings in to use ?
If I do echo $TZ I still get the old time zone :-(

As you have noticed its just a variable set...
loggout and in again to see the change
No reboot...

I would suggest that you use "/sbin/set_parms timezone". You will not be prompted to reboot after the command is run.

Hi

There is no reboot required for this change. You need to be on a new session to check the time zone settings.

Thanks for the fast replies.
I have in fact verified that when starting a new session echo $TZ is returning the coirrect value.
My question is that if this is also valid for the applications that are already running ?
I have a time managment app running will it take the new variable in to account or I have to restart this app ?

As Pete, I rather use "set_parms timezone" to change the timezone.

That is correct - for the most part, any running applications will have to be restarted...
