Hi Thierry,

Thanks for your quick response.
Yes, i'm aware that 1506s are just warnings.
we have a lot of transient .dat files in one of our directories.

The problem is, i get the 1002 right after the last 1506. No description of the error whatsoever...Puzzling, isn't it?

I had our UNIX experts check the drive..but nothing is wrong with it. The same drive is used for oracle backups and I never had any problems with that.

I have a backup that is failing but i got no clue why.

the log shows a lot of 1506s then a 1002 at the end.

fbackup(1506): WARNING: could not stat file 1038mov_38430134_1.dat
fbackup(1002): Backup did not complete : Reader or Writer process exit

Has anyone seen something like this?

Thanks in advance!

hi,

you can ignore almost always the 1506 errors: this is about files which were on the system when the fbackup was started, but were removed before they could be backed up.

The 1002 error indicates that the backup failed. There should be more comments above the error.

regards,
Thierry.

Is this a new tape?
What type of tape is it?
Check the tape by writing to it with tar.
If successful, try fbackup again.

The message means there's a problem with the tape or the tape drive.

Also check the syslog to see if there are any SCSI IO errors.
