Hi,

7 is the priority given to the card for CPU interaction in SCSI chain. You cannot change that. For your further checking I would suggest you to check hardware manual of the model you have.

Regards,
Jaimin.

Is it possible to change the built-in SCSI controller ID to something other than 7? I am trying to set up a cluster environment for testing without the external controller card.
Hello Eric,

I think I understand what you are looking for but your last comment threw me.

If you are asking if you can set the SCSI address of the controller card in your HP9000 system to something other than 7, the answer is 'probably' YES.

I say 'probably' because it varies from card-to-card and from system-to-system. Of course, you need to do this kind of thing when you are setting up a multi-initiator (cluster) environment. Usually, HP9000 Enterprise systems will do this, but not all of them. In the case of N and L-class systems, the address can usually be modified from the BCH (Boot Console Handler) before the system is booted. In other cases, the controller card needs to be jumpered differently.

Can you repost your specific SCSI controller card and system info here?

Good Luck,
Curt
