      <description>Dear All,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have stopped the mediainit process by shutdown system cause it took so long time.&lt;BR /&gt;After that, the disk has no size and can't access it.&lt;BR /&gt;following is the ioscan &amp;amp; pvcreate output:&lt;BR /&gt;------------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;# diskinfo /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0&lt;BR /&gt;SCSI describe of /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0:&lt;BR /&gt;             vendor: SEAGATE&lt;BR /&gt;         product id: ST336704LC&lt;BR /&gt;               type: direct access&lt;BR /&gt;               size: 0 Kbytes&lt;BR /&gt;   bytes per sector: 0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And run vgcreate command, I/O error happend.&lt;BR /&gt;# vgcreate -s 8 /dev/vg01 /dev/dsk/c1t1d0&lt;BR /&gt;vgcreate: Couldn't open physical volume "/dev/dsk/c1t1d0":&lt;BR /&gt;I/O error&lt;BR /&gt;----------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;At now, retry mediainit.....but it takes so long time.&lt;BR /&gt;How should I do?&lt;BR /&gt;Please help me.....</description>

      <description>Why you start mediainint.&lt;BR /&gt;It is like low level format. &lt;BR /&gt;Do not do it.&lt;BR /&gt;there are factory info that you lost :( &lt;BR /&gt;It was work with old disk. Do not do it on new disk. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;what give you &lt;BR /&gt;ioscan -nfC disk</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;Try doing :&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1. # pvcreate -f /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0&lt;BR /&gt;If this fails then try doing dd to confirm whether disk id faulty.&lt;BR /&gt;# dd if=/dev/rdsk/c1t1d0 of=/dev/null&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Hope that helps.&lt;BR /&gt;REgards,</description>
