This is the second time this has happened where the midaemon has exceeded 100 percent. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen or know of a fix / patch for it?

FYI - the status.mi file contained this message around the time of the run away process.

/opt/perf/bin/midaemon: Wed Feb 28 12:39:21 2001
mikslp: function @ 15d976 (vx_close) not in /opt/perf/lib/mikslp.text

L-class server 4 cpu's / 5 gigs / HP-UX B.11.00

Thanks so much!

A quick search of the technical knowledge base turned up the following:

Problem Description

I am running these applications:

GlancePlus B.10.31
MeasureWare C.00.01
midaemon B.10.20.11

The problem is that I am seeing very poor throughput. Glance shows
that midaemon is using 75-80% of cpu. Sar shows waiting on IO.
Sar -d shows three physical disks at or close to 100% utilization.
Glance did not show the same problem.

What is causing this problem?

Configuration Info

Operating System - HP-UX
Version - 10.20
Hardware System - HP9000
Series - T520
Applications-
GlancePlus B.10.31
MeasureWare C.00.01
midaemon B.10.20.11

Solution

The problem is that one of your three drives does not have a special
device file in the kernal.
