can't connect the external tape drive

I have just reboot the HP UX 11 server first , then switch on the external tape drive , now the server can't connect to the tape drive ( i think it is because the server not yet connect to the tape drive before it was switch on ) , how can I make it connected except reboot the server ? thx.

try insf -e & ioscan -fn

Hi,

# kmsystem |grep -i stape (checking tape driver)

# ioscan -f (full scan h/w)

# insf -e ( making all devices file)

/dev/rmt/

you will show device file of tape drive in the directory.

First try doing a

#ioscan -fnC tape
