      <title>DLT4000 Tape Drive Problem</title>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am facing some problem with the DLT4000 drive on HP-UX.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Can anybody guide me how to troubleshoot this?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ioscan command is showing the drive sometimes and some other times it's showing as "NO-HW".&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi Madhu,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is this the only device connected to the SCSI bus? if there are other devices connected in the bus, were the working properly prior to connecting the DLT?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In ioscan, does the status go to "scan" and then "claimed" and to "NO_HW" frequently? If so, you may be having the wrong SCSI controller type. Please check if the SCSI HBA is compatible with the drive.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Provide more details about the SCSI HBA, server type and if the DLT4000 is a standalone or a library.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;With regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Mohan.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>You have HW problem.&lt;BR /&gt;check again your SCSI cable.&lt;BR /&gt;Check that you use right terminator.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>NO-HW meens no hardware in other words the server has no connection to the TAPE device.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1. make sure you don't see the divice on another path:&lt;BR /&gt;# ioscan&lt;BR /&gt;# ioscan -funC tape&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2. check the SCSI connecters (all the pins :-).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3. Make sure you have devices installed and activated in the kernel (but here you har able to se the device in the ioscan)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Best Regards!</description>

      <description>hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;when it showing NO_HW .after rebooting the system or in between you are working.when it is showing OK ,the device files are properly shown and are you able to take backup?  &lt;BR /&gt;when it is showing NO_HW try to power-cycle  the library and check.&lt;BR /&gt;when it is showing NO_HW  try   insf -e  and check with ioscan.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regds,&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
