HI,

Yes you can setup OnLine JFS even though machine is under production (ofcourse it needs a reboot after kernel modification).

Help: you can increase/decrease the file system size on a fly

how much: It saves you time.

I have 2 rp5740 runnin hp-ux 11i MCSG with RAC extension for Oracle 11i (11.5.9)as Database servers and 2 rp5340 runnin MSCG with as application servers. All 4 are connected to an EVA3000 SAN over FC. Initially we were looking at Veritas DB/EAC for Cluster file systems for ease of management but could not proceed since it was not compatible with the EVA3000. Now i was looking at Online JFS and was wondering if i can setup now ( already in production) , if yes.. what will be the damage ? will it help ? how much ?

thanks

hi,

the only "damage" is that you'll need to reboot after installation, that's all.

regards,
Thierry.

Hi,

The installation of OnlineJFS will require a reboot. If you've purchased MCOE with your machines, then OnlineJFS is included in it. Otherwise, you can check the HP Software Depot to have an idea as to how much it costs. I'm assuming here that you're referring to filesystem management.

Regards,

Isralyn
