Ap,

I currently run over 30 remote printers. My unix prints go from our L2000 and then go directly to a print server. Under a windows environment you can select which tray the output will go to. I've attached a graphic displaying where these options are. Are you printing directly(not going through any servers) to a jetdirect card?

Doug

When you use a remote print server (ie, Windows or Linux or...) you lose all control over your printer. The lp printer scripts only work for locally-connected (parallel or serial ports) or HP JetDirect cards or boxes. Remember that any HP printer with a front panel display and control buttons can be changed from the default to any number of new values that affect all subsequent print jobs. It is NEVER recommended to change the printer defaults because some systems will override all the time, others only set certain values and systems like HP-UX do not override anything on remote systems.

Someone probably went to the printer and changed the printer's default settings, thus causing the new choice of input tray. The only way to fix this is to fix the print server (if possible), or connect the printer via JetDirect and print direct to the printer. Now you'll have exttensive controls (input and output tray selection, duplex, portrait vs. landscape, font selections, etc)
