Console login ADMIN

I have forgtten my CONSOLE login (both username and passwd). What is the default console username and passwd for Hp-UX machine.

Machine: HP-UX 11.23(IPF).

Is it possible to create a console account?

Hi,
See Console Login can be any username and password but normally consoles are restricted to root login. So do you mean that you have forgotten root password.

There is file called /etc/securetty and you add CONSOLE entry in that to restrict other user from logging thr' console. In that case you need to login with root and root password.

Now if you don't have root password then you will have to reboot your systems and start it in sigle user mode with "hpux -is" command from ISL prompt.

Server is HP Rx 2600 Server and I need to know default MP password.(ADMIN/ADMIN failed)

I can login as root to the system but my console access is denied as I forgot my username and passwd.

The default shuould be

Admin Admin not ADMIN ADMIN, i will check if there is a possibility to reset the MP password.

Note: On initial system installation, the MP has two default user accounts. They are:
1. Administrator level user; login = Admin, password = Admin (both are case sensitive)
2. Operator level user; login = Oper, password = Oper (both are case sensitive).
For security reasons, it is recommended that the UC command be used during the initial logon session (enter CM at the MP prompt, and enter UC at the MP:CM> prompt) to modify default passwords or to delete and create user accounts.

Can't find an option to reset the MP, on other servers (HP9000) ther used to be a reset button.

Thanks for your comments but Admin/Admin too failed.

It will be great if there is a way to reset the username and password.

Hi there

If your server is like my RP3440, you have a mp reset button on the rear of the unit. Attach a serial console, press the 'mp reset' and you will be prompted to press 'p' to clear usernames and passwords.

you forgot the EFI password(s)
If you forgot your passwords, they can be reset using a jumper on the system board. See the hp RX2600/ZX6000 Operation and Maintenance Guide

Trouble is I can not find this guide, I think you will have your answer faster if you ask the HP response center.
