Hi Sreejith

Sorry I read your second question wrong.

EM100 is VT100.

The MP supports two mode hpterm and vt100. On the old 700/96 consoles we picked the EM100 terminal emulation option.

You can try putty for the frontend(maybe it helps) ... its very tweakable.

HTH
Gerhard

Hi,

I have a rp4440 installed and now i want to rebuild the OS 11i.
When i boot from CD (PDC > bo P0), it is directly going to HP-UX CORE RECOVERY. I can see the first screen of HP-UX installation for a second in my console and it is disappearing , then going to this recovery screen. I am using MP local port as console.

Any idea why is this happening ?

Thanks
Sreejith M
You probably have the wrong TERM setting in your console. For isntallations on a serial console, change the hardware configuration to EM100.

SEP

Hi srjith

If its in any way close to the same as an gsp. I just do not have an mp on hand to test.

It would be
ctrl+b
cm <- this is mp specific i think
ca

If you follow the prompts from there it should lead you to the place to set it to vt100.

HTH
Gerhaed

Hyperterminal is not a good enough terminal emulator to handle installs. Linux might work a little better, as would a third party terminal emulator.

Suggestions:

1) Secure Web Console. The box is small. How much can it cost. It will work nicely and let you do the install via a browser.
2) A Serial Console. Those are cheap. People are throwing the things away.

Good Luck,

SEP

I have seen this problem many times. The problen is your emulator is putting an extra character or line feed etc. and the first menu goes immediately to a recovery shell. The good news is that it asks you to configure the network. The next time go ahead and select configure the network. On the network configuration screen just tab past everything and select <CANCEL>. That will ask for confirmation then it goes back to the screen you wanted in the first place and allows you to select [Install].

This also works if you are trying to recover using Ignite.
Good luck.</CANCEL>
