Hi,

We have an OVSU application, we want to migrate it to another server. Some of the software are included in the swlists.

Can I just backup /var, /opt then restore it to another server? Or do I still need its installation package (*.depot)?

Regards,
Paul

If this is similar server then ignite restore of vg00 will be the best option.

regards,
Syam

Hi,

No issuing in using ignite between N class and rp5470. Ignite is better option.

You can restore on another machine using any backup tool, but links and permisions will change

Hi Paul,

Install the lastest Support Plus HWE Bundle ( Hardware Enablement Bundle ) before taking the ignite of N class. Else it MAY give problem in supporting certiain h/w in the rp series servers. Any way if the rp server is not in production environment you can try this.

Download HWE Bundles from:-
http://www.software.hp.com/SUPPORT_PLUS/hwe.html

Copying( normal restore ) is not a real method to make a s/w working. You need a proper installation , else use ignite. Normal restore of directories will not update the system setting properly. The same is applicable in uninstlling a s/w too. Deleting a s/w folder in /opt and /var wont uninstall the s/w properly.

regards,
Syam
