STM is the Support Tools Management software that comes with HP-UX. It should be installed by default on the your system in /usr/bin/stm.

If you don't have it, it is freely downloadable from HP.

Yes c6t11d0 is it, b is 11 in hexadecimal.

-Shekar

vmunix: dev: 1f06b000

This suggests that the device might be

c6t12d0
> How did you conclude this. The ll shows c6t11d0.

I would use stm to check if this device is working properly by running a query on it.

Also check your EMS logs

How to look at the EMS logs?
-Shekar

STM (Support Tools Manager) is the online diagnostic set. There are 4 programs: cstm and stm (fairly cryptic), mstm (a menu-based program, also fairly cyrptic to learn) and xstm (Xwindows based) which is easy to use. If you don't have the man page for stm, then someone has removed the online diagnostics (not a good thing). Additionally, the online diagnostics have a nice tool for problem logging and notification called EMS. Reinstall the diagnostics from the most recent (Sep or Dec 2004) Support Plus CDROM. If you don't have that CD, you should get a software support contract to get quarterly media distribution (Applications, patches and diags). In the meantime, you can download the diags from:
http://www.software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B6191AAE
