Hi,

Is it possible to extend a physical (SAN) volume without destroying the data on the disk ? As far as I know, it is not possible with LVM, is there any difference with VxVM.
(HP-UX 11.23, VxVM 3.5 )

Leif, once, and only once, through either random chance and/or a rather strange ioscan command, I was able to get my system to recognize an extended LUN on our SAN.

We're an LVM shop and I've tried since then and failed. Sadly, I'm 7000 miles away from my machines and not certain the process is documented anyway.

I think the success on LVM depends on who built the SAN. It might be possible with an HP built/marketed disk array. It might be possible with one of the expensive Veritas add on products.

I have not tried it with your OS combo, or VxVM.

SEP
