hi all,

my hp-ux 11.0 box crashed and i had no choice but to turn off from the button. after booting it seems the file system is corrupt.

i ran all options relating to fsck on all volumes and it seems i cannot mount /stand. when booting into single user mode .. the error is "file system corrupt, check fstab entries" then cannot mount /stand.

does this mean i will need to re-create the file system from start ?

The fact that you were able to boot into single user mode means that /stand has some valid entries in the directory (the kernel is /stand/vmunix). Start with fsck on the raw device file (probably /dev/vg00/rlvol1). If it halts with an error (errno 5 or I/O error) then the disk has unrecoverable sectors and can only be fixed with a complete mediainit (which erases everything on the entire disk) and reinstall HP-UX from your Ignite/UX backup tape.

Woww ---- I had an issue on one of my systems which (until today) wouldn't accept any mount options other than 'defaults', even if they were tested. This sounds like a real reasonable thing to check, as it behaved just the same way after rebooting.

10000x thanks to You for coming back and having posted Your solution.
