I have a quick question....

On my 9000 version 11.0 using SAM when I go to the 'Display', then 'X Server Configuration", I always get the following error:

The /usr/sbin/ioscan - funC graphics ' command reports *NO* graphics devices for your system. SAM is unable to configure the X server for this system.
***********************************************

Is this the reason why we never see the CDE login screen??

That probably is the reason you don't see CDE login.

What type of machine is this? I suspect it is a workstation class of some variety.

What does the command show if you run it from the command line?

This is output from my machine.

# ioscan -funC graphics
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===============================================================
graphics 0 8/24 graph3 CLAIMED INTERFACE Graphics

Do you have a graphics card installed? If so, are all correct drivers installed? You notice above that mine uses the graph3 driver. Is the card that is installed a good card? Do you see output when you boot the system? Is your dtlogin daemon starting when the system is rebooted?

I realize that these are a lot of questions, but it's some stuff for you to check.

I do not have a graphics card. I get no output from the ioscan command.
My 'dtlogin' is running with '-debug 9'

Are you trying to get CDE up on an Xterminal or Windows machine with X software?
