I acutally have a cluster with 2 nodes, both are running hpux11.0/SG A.11.12.

We plan to upgrade it to hpux11.i and the best version of SG we can have. Now, the question is, should I do the upgrade to both hpux and SG, or should I do the completely installation of hpux and sg.

We no longer need any applications running on the cluster.

Hi Hanry,

Look for the SW recovery handbook containing the steps to update 11 to 11i either here in ITRC or in docs.hp.com. FOr the SG upgrade, look for "Managing SG" manual in docs.hp.com.

To determine SG version, you can do either:

#swlist -l product|grep SG

or

#what /usr/sbin/cmcld

Regards,

Isralyn

You are running 11.12 of Serviceguard, no longer supported.

A.11.12 Date: 02/11/2002; PATCH: PHSS_26270
^^^^^^^
If you are looking at upgrading to 11i, you should first upgrade Serviceguard to 11.14 as 11.12 was never supported on 11i of HP-UX
If you are ABSOLUTELY SURE you don't need anything from the cluster, I would just blow away everything and start completely from scratch.

Install 11i from scratch and install MC/SG. Then build your new cluster from there.

Hanry,

You're likely on V1, or 11.11. Run something along the lines of: uname -sr to see what exact version you are on.
Well, your media should actually tell you what version. I'm looking at a set of applications CDs and they say very distinctly "11i version 1" which is also known as 11iV1 or 11.11.

11iV2PI, or 11i Version 2 Sep. 2004, or 11i Version 2 PI, or 11.23PI is the newest version. As of Sept. 2004 it can run on both PA-RISC and Itanium hardware.

You'll really need to research and look at your materials to determine what version you have and what version of MC/SG you need!

(Aside to Jim -- I probably won't do HP World. I'm going to try and let my counterpart here go to that one.)
