    <description>I changed server destop from CDE to Gnome, but met some troubles.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have configured /etc/X0.hosts like this:&lt;BR /&gt;------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;root@xkbqd06# cat /etc/X0.hosts&lt;BR /&gt;xkbqd06&lt;BR /&gt;localhost&lt;BR /&gt;melody0123&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and enviromental variable $DISPLAY like this:&lt;BR /&gt;----------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;root@xkbqd06# set | grep DIS&lt;BR /&gt;DISPLAY=:0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now, Gnome is running, even I can see login graphic but I can't login.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The Gnome'log says :&lt;BR /&gt;"AUDIT: Sat Mar 19 20:33:11 2005: 1482 X: client 4 rejected from local host&lt;BR /&gt;"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have found some notes, saying "it can be resolved using command xhost".&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I try it on console, as a result:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;root@xkbqd06# xhost +&lt;BR /&gt;Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server&lt;BR /&gt;Xlib: No protocol specified&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;xhost:  unable to open display ":0"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;----------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;About Gnome configuration file in &lt;BR /&gt;"/etc/opt/gnome/gdm/gdm.conf" including this:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;===================&lt;BR /&gt;[daemon]&lt;BR /&gt;AutomaticLoginEnable=ture&lt;BR /&gt;AutomaticLogin=&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;[security]&lt;BR /&gt;AllowRoot=true&lt;BR /&gt;AllowRemoteRoot=true&lt;BR /&gt;RelaxPermissions=0&lt;BR /&gt;RetryDelay=3&lt;BR /&gt;UserMaxFile=65536&lt;BR /&gt;SessionMaxFile=524388&lt;BR /&gt;VerboseAuth=true&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;[xdmcp]&lt;BR /&gt;Enable=true&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now, what can I do?&lt;BR /&gt;Any help is appreciated !!</description>

      <description>Your DISPLAY is set to the wrong value, in fact, it's not set at all. You should set it to the ip of the machine running Xserver, on wich Gnome will run. If it's local machine you can use DISPLAY=localhost:0 and if it's some pc runing xserver (reflection, Xcygwin etc) then DISPLAY=&lt;IP&gt;:0.&lt;/IP&gt;</description>

      <description>OK, I have do this:&lt;BR /&gt;------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;        DISPLAY=localhost:0&lt;BR /&gt;        export DISPLAY&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;reboot,&lt;BR /&gt;But the problem still exists.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In the end, I configure "/etc/opt/gnome/gdm/gdm.conf" to disables host-based access control mechanisms.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;===========&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;[servers]&lt;BR /&gt;0=/usr/bin/X11/X -ac&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;as a result, I can log but not see destop.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Log say:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;gdm[20988]: gdm_xdmcp_decode: Could not create XDMCP buffer!</description>

      <description>You don' have to reboot. It's only an environment variable. Just set it and try to start gnome.</description>
