      <description>what /stand/vmunix |grep gelan&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if it shows up like this:&lt;BR /&gt;gelan 1000Base-SX/T Revision: B.11.11.20 PHNE_28883 Oct 10 2003 11:00:47&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;then check to see if it is in your kernel:&lt;BR /&gt;lsdev | grep gelan&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if not, then go into sam, and add gelan to kernel, reboot&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;live free or die&lt;BR /&gt;harry d brown jr</description>

      <description>If you don't already have a 'gelan' driver available, as tested above, it is an optional add-on product in 11.00.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You will need to find an 11.00 Applications CD and install it from there.  The Product or Bundle numbers are &lt;BR /&gt; - A4924A or&lt;BR /&gt; - J1642AA&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you have a support contract, HP should be able to give this to you.  I can't find anywhere to download it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Scot is spot-on here - the gelan driver was not part of the base OS on 11.0.  It only became part of the base OS on 11.11 and later.  So, if you can get the DARTs/AppCD's that is the way to go, or.... since HP-UX 11.0 is rather old now, you might want to consider upgrading to 11.11 or 11.23 (11iv1 or 11iv2 Update2).</description>
