    <description>Hi all,&lt;BR /&gt;i am getting following error while checking backup..&lt;BR /&gt;to check for backup i have to remove it n again put the same tape, then only it is reding.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hp:/arch_crr/crr_one/arch&amp;gt;tar -tvf /dev/rmt/0mn&lt;BR /&gt;Tar: blocksize = 0; broken pipe?&lt;BR /&gt;-------------------------------------&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;$ tar -tvf /dev/rmt/0mn&lt;BR /&gt;Tar: tape read error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>If you are using a non-rewindable device to make the backup, you'd have to rewind it (mt -f /dev/rmt/0m rew) before you can read the backup.</description>

      <description>Was the backup taken with tar?&lt;BR /&gt;Why are you using the no-revind device?&lt;BR /&gt;If it was a Ignite (make_tape_recovery) you would havt to:&lt;BR /&gt;mt -t /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1&lt;BR /&gt;tar -tvf /dev/rmt/0m&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Trond</description>

      <description>1. Clean the tape device first.&lt;BR /&gt;2. Rewind the tape: mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn rew&lt;BR /&gt;If the trouble still persit---&amp;gt;the tape had error during bakup or broken.&lt;BR /&gt;You can only view the content with tar command if you backup with tar command.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regard,&lt;BR /&gt;HoangChiCong</description>
