      <description>server rebooted about 1hr ago.&lt;BR /&gt;not sure why yet. OLDsyslog.log had 2 interesting messages b4 reboot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;==========================================&lt;BR /&gt;Apr  5 10:44:48 cs9 automountd[12499]: Unable to bind to socket 3: Address alrea&lt;BR /&gt;dy in use&lt;BR /&gt;Apr  5 10:46:32 cs9 syslog: ypbind: no entry in /var/yp/secureservers file&lt;BR /&gt;Apr  5 10:48:05 cs9 syslog: su : + 1 root-q10723&lt;BR /&gt;Apr  5 10:48:42 cs9 syslog: su : + 1 root-slynch1&lt;BR /&gt;Apr  5 10:49:09 cs9 automountd[12766]: server cs6 not responding&lt;BR /&gt;Apr  5 11:56:16 cs9 syslogd: going down on signal 15&lt;BR /&gt;==========================================&lt;BR /&gt;i noticed the message about the secureservers file in the new syslog.log file</description>

      <description>Sounds like someone who was logged in as root issued the reboot command - which does not do a graceful shutdown, thus causing your file corruption.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Pete</description>
