Hi all,

I have an Itanium server rx4640 and it have graphic card (gvid_core , PCI display). Now I want to use popular monitor (PC monitor) plugging to Graphic card to manage and use it as my console.
I tried but it display only blank screen and one flashing pointer. I haven't got UPS keyboard, and mouse , they must be had or not? and How do I step by step configurate my server to use Monitor with Graphic card.

Thanks in advanced,
HMT

Without a USB keyboard or mouse, the server will default to using the serial port. Connect a keyboard at the very least and you should see something on your display. The trick is getting your monitor and graphics card to use the same resolution and frame refresh rate. If you are luck it will work correctly the first time.

Sorry, they are USB keyboard +mouse.

My server only have USB ports for keyboard and mouse, it dont have serial port. Emphatically, my main purpose is how to configurate rx4640 ( have build-in graphic card) so that I can plug a PC monitor to with the function is the same as this of console.

I knew dimmly the way is changing graph3 driver be in, start dtlogin.rc and something but it doesn't work.
Do you have any docs relating to graphic card configuration...

Hi,

During install, if the system detects USB keyboard & mouse, and VGA monitor, it would automatically give the display on the monitor.

That's what the documents say.

Rgds,

One question again,

I configurated the ouput signal via vGA port and it work well as the console. Now I want to use X window. I changed file /etc/dt/config/Xservers to automatically startup Xwindow but the problem now I think is the resolution between VGA card and monitor. How to configurate Xwindow resolution (maybe 800x600).

Thanks,
HMT

You should be able to do it using sam.

Run "sam" go to "display" and select "monitor configuration".

That should resolve your problem.

Rgds,
