Hello There...
Guys, I need your help...

We have several HP-UX 11i servers at our company... If I'm not wrong, we have 21 of these servers...So, we have lots of softwares licenses such as GlancePlus, Mirror, etc, to administrate...
But the older servers administration (I'm new at the Company) wasn't so organized as it should be, and they didn't keep information of Codewords installed in the servers.
Now I want to know the codewords that are registred to each server, in order to control it. Is there a way to know what Codeword is installed on each system? Are they kept in any file or something like this?
Is there a way to know wich Software are installed at the server that need Codewords?

Thanks,

Rafael M. Braga

You can look at /var/adm/sw/.codewords file.
Also, you will have to pull up all those license certificates. You can also speak to HP and they can send to codewords again.

Anil

The codewords are stored in /var/adm/sw/.codewords. I typically just copy this file from server to server. Excess codewords that don't apply to a particular server are just ignored.

Pete

I actually store that in a central location...I grab the files in /var/adm/sw/.codewords from each server...

Now - they just tell you what is installed - not the actual codewords needed to unlock cd's....what you need to do is find out from your HP account rep - what software you are entitled to for each server.

Rgds...Geoff
Thanks a lot!!
Thanks RAC!!
Thanks Paete Randall!!

Well guys...I have a doubt now...

I was checking the codewords files, and, in some of the servers, I have softwares such as Mirror, OnlineJFS, and GlancePlus installed, but I don't have "the /var/adm/sw/.codewords" file...

Have you seen these before?
What I have to do to know the codewords in these cases?

Thanks,

Rafael M.
If these servers are running 11i, they probably have one of HP's "Operating Environments" installed - which can include Mirror Disk, Online JFS, Glance, and the like. Run "swlist |grep -i oe":

# swlist |grep -i oe
HPUX11i-OE-Ent B.11.11.0309 HP-UX Enterprise Operatin
g Environment Component

Pete

Actually, that looks like the Base OE, which would require codewords. Only the "Enterprise Operating Environement" and the "Mission Critical Operating Environment" automatically include MirrorDisk, Glance, and Online JFS. The Base OE does not include these apps and would therefore require codewords to have them installed.

Pete
