Anyone out there with SUN systems running Solaris 9 ? Recently i built a system, created the mirrors are required. Now the system has been OK till yesterday after the DBA started installing oracle 9.20. Currently when I type commands like #uptime or #w or #ps
I get the message getexecname() failed. Has anyone ever got this message and probable reasons and / or solutions to this ? Please advise......
Thanks
Richard.

I seen that happen on Sun boxes when the /proc filesystem is not mounted. See if it's mounted.

From memory: "mount -F proc /proc"; you might also have a bad entry in vfstab.

Do you have "/proc"?

If not, try to create it:
mkdir /proc
mount -F proc /proc

Alex.
