After I received the dvd kits (hpux11.23 for 9000 series), i did it as follow,
#mount /dev/dsk/c3t2d0 /cdrom
#update-ux -s /cdrom HPUX11i-OE
...
...
# swlist|grep HPUX
HPUX11i-OE B.11.23.0409 HP-UX Foundation Operating Environment Component
HPUXBaseAux B.11.23.0409 HP-UX Base OS Auxiliary
HPUXBaseOS B.11.23 HP-UX Base OS
OnlineDiag B.11.23.03.16 HPUX 11.23 Support Tools

But when it completed, I found the Mirrordisk has been removed by system. so I decide to downgrade the OS to 11.11
how shall i do?
Well, if you just have the Base OE licensed, then Mirror Disk is NOT part of that automatically. You should have also gotten an Applications DVD or set of Applications CDs and codewords which should have all of your software that you can install separately. That is assuming of course that you have a software maintenance agreement.

If you do have software maintenance and did not get those then call HP and request them.

Now if you must go back to 11.11, your best bet would be to restore via an Ignite/UX backup of sort (either tape or network).

If you didn't do either of those I'm not sure what options, if any, you have.

You may have found a bug.

If mirror disk is installed and properly licensed, then update/ux should mirgrate the lvm configuration, including the mirrored volumes.

It is also possible that there was a problem with the installation of mirror/ux and update/ux was unable to migrate the configuration.

In my opinion, update/ux should have taken one of the following actions:

1) Error out and stop the upgrade.
2) Prompt the user for new codewords.

Your mirror/ux licenses should be good with 11.23. I had to get codewords but I didn't have to spend any additonal money when I migrated my former employer from 11.00 to 11.11.

SEP
