      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Can you do display of the contents of the tape using&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;tar tvf /dev/rmt/xxx&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This is also possible if you are using no rewind device for backup &amp;amp; try to restore without rewinding device after backup.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH,&lt;BR /&gt;Devender</description>

      <description>I/O error means that the tape cannot be read. There is no workaround, the tapes or the tape drive must be replaced</description>

      <description>how do you know you can 'copy' files to tape ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;on your tape device do a:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;dd if=&lt;TAPEDEVICE&gt; of=/dev/null&lt;BR /&gt;do you get an error from tape device ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/TAPEDEVICE&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Try changing the DAT(or tape). Are you using the same device for restoring. if no then check for comatibility of drives(or tapes) or clean the drive you are using for restore.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cheers!!!&lt;BR /&gt;eknath&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
