HP cluster doesn't need to know anything about SUN cluster. There should be a floating IP for the DB cluster and App sends requests on this IP.

Depending on the DB you're using, in case of package switch on SUN cluster, session will be kept and switch to the other server, but running request may be lost. Your app may have to be written in such a way that when this occurs, request is launched again. But this app's side, and not app cluster's. So basically HP cluster will act as if SUN cluster was one single machine.

Regards,

Fred
Hi!
Has anybody got any experience with hp cluster running with a database cluster. What we're planning is to have 2 HP servers clustered the usual way, on 1 side an appl. pkg on the other a database pkg. The database will be provided from a database cluster running on SUN. I wonder about the handling of switching packages. Like eg. the HP-pkg doesn't have to switch in case of a database-cluster-switch. Should I use the timeout option in such a case? I would appreciate any comments on the subject.
Chris
