iostat shows no activity
so if you are waiting on i/o half the time, then could it be waiting for user input or waiting on the network? Is your network having problems autonegotiating full/half duplex on 100BaseT?

Hi,
Did you update the system with latest patch bundle. This may be the first thing you have to look at.
The second is that the network. Is there any n/w bottleneck? Use netstat command for checking the collisions, time out requests,
retries and packet errors. If you have glance network page will show all these parameters.
Third thing is to tune you kernel parameters which will suit to your database. Oracle or informix whatever it is.

The o/p of iostat doesn't show any disk bottleneck.

Hope this may help.

Jino
