A couple of things to try:

1) Make sure your DISPLAY variable is not exported causing it to try to bring up the X version. (echo $DISPLAY, if exported do a 'export DISPLAY=')

2) See what your TERM is set to. 'echo $TERM' If not set appropriately, reset. Depending on what type of terminal you are using you could set it to hp, vt100, something like that.

Hi.

I am trying to run sam from a console login, and when I type sam and hit return, the cursor moves to the next line and just blinks forever.

Any idea what I need to do to get the text menus to come up?

Thanks for reading.

On text based console

export TERM=hp
tsm ( to get multiple softkey 'windows')
sam
from another shell window you can run top
and verify sam is running correctly.

Later,
Bill
