HI Danny,

I have not got my hands on a MSA1000 yet, but I guess you need to check the SSP (Selective Storage presentation) feature to present the LUNs to different hosts.

This should be available from ACU.

With regards,
Mohan.

I got two-node of RP3440's connected to MSA1000 thru a switch. My RP's have two HBA
each. When I run ioscan, I could see two disk device files (/dev/dsk/c6t0d0 and c6t0d1)
that represents my two configured LUNS, while
the other HBA, I could see /dev/rscsi/c4t0d0
up to c4t15d0. I am planning to do the alternate link but I can't see disk device files on another controller. Attached here is the ioscan of one of the RP's.

If you've done an insf -e -C disk, then the only thing I can think of is, the other HBA isn't "masked" all the way to the MSA1000 to the disks in question...

Rgds...Geoff

Hi Danny,

I faced this problem a few days ago.
It is normal! MSA1000 on HP-UX 11.11-11-23 cannot have more than one controller.

Searching into HP sites I found the followinf documentation

http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/softwaredrivers/msa1000/msa1k_intel.html

where you will find

This release offers support of HP-UX (homogeneous support only, prior single controller configuration limitations still apply...)

So single controller configuration on HP-UX.

In my instance even I saw all device files but had problems to work in LVM configuration.

HTH.

Best regards,
Fabio

I mentioned that I am doing my alternate link on second controller actually it is not controller but HBA. I am only using
the switch connected to one of the controllers. Two connections (from two HBA's) from the first RP going to the switch and two connection (from two HBA's)
from second RP going to the ports of the same switch. All in all I have four HBA's
two from each RP. For me to configure my
alternate links is for me to see the device files to be used for alternate links but I am seeing /dev/rscsi/c4t0d0 (for cntl) instead of normal /dev/dsk/cxtydz).
I just inherit this problem from my previous
collegue. The environment is live that's why
I am afraid of running the insf -e.
Is there an ACU for HPUX. how can I know if
this is installed on my RP's. I am thinking that it is installed because how can he configure it without installing to the machines.
