I just ran across this problem on a PA-RISC machine over the weekend. The issue was the when I did a lvlnboot -v, the boot area was not defined. This was due to the fact that the boot partition, lvol1, was not the first lv on the mirrored disk. To resolve the problem, I brioke the mirror and I was able to define the boot area with lvlnboot -b.

Once the machine was up and stable, I re-established all the mirrors in the proper order on the 2nd disk.

I fixed this issue by reflashing the firmware, (HP was of no help). It turned out there was a mismatch with the firmware on the scsi cntrl.

Vijay,

You need to go to the firmware download page and install the latest firmware bundle for your operating system.

-dave

Hi.

We have just experienced the same problem on an rx7640 running 11.23. This occurred when we tested a mirror of the boot disk (after installing Mirror disk UX) by selecting it from the EFI boot menu.

Can you verify that the firmware download resolved the problem?

Many thanks,

David
