Problem mounting a cd

He,

i am trying to mount a cd in hp-ux 11.11 i have used this way to mount

mount -o cdcase -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom

the cd is mount ok, but when i try to see the files inside the /cdrom these file has a diferent name and extentions, inside the /cdrom must have a .depot file that i need to install with swinstall but after mounting de /cdrom the fiel changed and i can not to see the .depot file

Any advice

I forgot something i burned the cd i want to mount because i do not have the original media, i tried this way

>mount -o cdcase,rr -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom

But i still have the original problems

I check with swlist | grep P on the server i do not have these patches

if it is a self-burned copy, all bets are kinda off. What did you use to burn the cd ? Another HPUX machine or copied it using a PC CD-Burner ?

Without knowing the nature of the CD, it is hard to tell if it uses rockridge extensions, but if this is a product distribution CD, like oracle or something, you most probably will need rockridge extensions. So, when you have time, install these. It is always good to have these patches.
Your problem here may or may not be related to the patches though.

fstyp -v /dev/rdsk/cxtxdx

What does it tell?? I think, you need to adjust you -F option accordingly.

Well, Nero is good for burning PC based CDs but in the past, I have seen some CDs which did not work after copying with a PC cd burning application. But again, try the rockridge extensions. They might help. As you know PHKL patches will require a reboot. I hope you can afford some downtime on this machine.

Yes I have time maquine for installation, was looking for these patch list that you told me and one of them PHKL_25760 have a warning and hp recommende another one PHKL_32035 (s700_800 11.11 Rock Ridge extension for ISO-9660 )

Can i used this one ?

I usually go with what HP recommends as long as it has 2 stars or more. If it has only one star, unless the warning is a critical one, I still go with the old one. But the system is yours to make a judgement decision.

When a newer patch is recommended, the patch description will explain the reason. NOTE: without these 3 patches, the -orr option will be silently ignored and you'll get ISO9660 standard filenames (8.3 all UPPERCASE). The -ocdcase is no help at all because it simply lowers the case...filenames are still 8.3 characters. Without the patches, your filenames will appear to be truncated (although they were stored in the CD's ISO9660 directory in that form).

CDROMs have many different standards but for CDs created on a PC, make sure you do NOT use the Joliet format. And NEVER burn a CD in the 'append' mode for interchange to other computers. Roxio/Nero software default to RockRidge, but make sure you use 'disc at once' or similar method.

Use the latest patches labeled "Rock Ridge". You'll need all 3.

There is no other dependencies, so you can install these patches
without much problem

I think the depot file for Data Protector will be in /cdrom/LOCAL_INSTALL
